In 1962 Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni developed the floor lamp Toio.
For the former time definitely an innovative lamp. Due to its unchanged appearance, today the Toio acts as a rudimentary almost archaic lamp. The transformer, being built in the foot of the lamp, acts as an important design element and also as a weight on the foot. The 300-watt bulbs are evocative of the strong headlights of the original VW Beetle's. And it is precisely this "Industrial Design", making out the charm of this floor lamp. Toio provides an indirect, warm light.
